Top QB Will Visit Later This Month

With quarterback being one of the top priorities in the class of 2005, the Bleu Devils have invested much time and effort into earning interest from some of the best and brightest signal callers in the rising senior class. It is seemingly starting to pay off as one of the best prospects in the country is scheduled to be on campus later this month.

"We'll be visiting Duke on Friday, May 28th," said Gene Delle Donne's father Ernie. "We'll have a chance to meet with Coach Roof, Coach Knotts, and Offensive Coordinator Galbraith to learn about their program. Saturday Gene will have a chance to tour the campus and go over Duke's plan for him."

With a college decision likely coming this summer for Delle Donne, the Blue Devils made big strides by offering the 6-foot-5, 225 pound Wilmington (Del.) Salesianum back in late March on the heels of a stellar junior campaign that saw him throw for more than 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns against four interceptions in just nine games.

Before the offer was extended, Delle Donne admitted that he knew very little about Duke, however the recent rash of interest has opened his eyes to the Blue Devils' new commitment to rebuilding a respectable program.

"When I called to thank them for the offer for Gene, I had a chance to speak to several members of the staff including coach Roof," the elder Delle Donne. "Coach Roof has assembled an impressive staff and they represent the school very well."
