As a freshman at Colorado last season, Waner started eight of 30 games played as she averaged 7.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals a contest. A two-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week selection, Waner kicked off her career with 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal against Old Dominion in the season opener. In the game, she hit a career-best five three-pointers in 31 minutes.
Waner hit 51 three-pointers and had a 39.2 three-point field goal percentage on the year, which ranked 10th in the Big 12. Against Notre Dame on Nov. 15, 2003, Waner hit the game-winning shot to give Colorado a 67-63 victory in overtime.
A Colorado Miss Basketball selection as a senior, Waner averaged 17.8 points, 6.2 assists, 3.6 steals and 3.1 rebounds in her final year at ThunderRidge H.S. She was also selected Denver Post Miss Basketball, Joint Effort High School Player of the Year, 5A State Tournament MVP, Denver Post All-Colorado and 5A first team All-State as a senior. She led ThunderRidge to a 23-1 record and the 5A State Championship in her final year as well.
"It will be a good transition for her and us to be able to practice with and against us for a year," said Goestenkors.
This marks only the third transfer in Goestenkors' 12 years at Duke as Michele VanGorp and Erickson transferred from Purdue in 1996.
