Asack happy with Duke

Xaverian Brothers QB Zack Asack followed in the footsteps of his father and committed to Duke in early July. "My dad, Philip Asack, played FB for Duke and then was drafted by the Chargers," said the junior Asack. "He played DE for (the Chargers) for like three or four years.

"I really thought (Duke) was the best fit for me. They've got new coaches, what I think is the best coaching staff in the country. Coach (Ted) Roof won all the games that he was the head coach for at the end of last year. They're very intelligent coaches." Zack Asack chose the Blue Devils over Maryland, Notre Dame, Boston College and Miami (camped at all but only Duke offered). Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio) also offered the Westwood, Ma, signal caller. "I'm a dual-threat QB. I have very good speed and I play with the defense--they have to worry about me either running or throwing. "I was looking at the web sites, and I saw all these other QBs committing and I didn't want to get out of the swing of things. I sat down with my parents, and I didn't want to waste any time because I knew Duke was the best place to go." Zack says his commitment is 100% and solid. In track, he is a Class A state champion in the 55M hurdles and 4X400 relay. 60% comp rate/1500+ yds passing/10 TDs/4 picks 3.2/1010
