It's good to be Kevin Durant

He's already one of, if not the, top prospect in the recruiting board for Duke in the class of 2006. Even though it's early in the process, 6-foot-9 combo forward Kevin Durant is already finding out that the Blue Devils are targeting him as a headliner.

After a tremendous spring and summer on the AAU circuit -- the 6-foot-9 combo forward from the class of 2006 is a high priority target for many of the nations elite programs. Here's a guy who will be recruited at the highest level and a guy that can virtually count on being an NBA player down the road.

TDD caught up with the lanky rising junior recently at his Maryland home. We asked him for his current school list.

"Right now, I like Duke, Carolina, Kentucky, Texas, Arizona, NC State, Maryland, Louisville and Georgia Tech."

Five schools from the ACC in that list?

"Yeah, well I love the ACC," he replied. "The big rivalries, the great players. It's what I watch."

And according to sources close to the staff in Durham -- Duke has plans to make Kevin Durant one of their top targets in the junior class. In fact -- Durant says that he's already feeling the love.

"Coach Wojo has been sending me lots of stuff," he said. "Just talking about how Coach K loves me and stuff. I mean, I could see myself playing in Cameron Indoor, with those fans. And Coach K is just a great guy."

Durant says that while the staff in Duke has not officially offered -- he feels like one may come in the not-so-distant future. He thinks he's already got firm offers from Maryland, NC State, Arizona and Texas.

"I feel like I want to take some visits soon, but right now there's no real leader. I'll probably (commit) sometime in the middle to later part of next year."
