Briscoe Narrowing His List

Long identified as one of the top two receivers on the Blue Devils recruiting board (along with Darrius Haywood-Bey), North Carolina standout receiver Josh Briscoe has seen his stock soar to the tune of nearly 15 written offers. However the time is approaching for the big timer to cut his list. Will the Blue Devils make the list?

"I'm going to be narrowing my list to five schools which will be the five schools I'll take my officials to," stated Josh Briscoe in an interview with TheInsiders.com. "The schools have been sending out their programs for the upcoming season, and I've been researching through it and seeing how many receivers are coming back and all."

And that research will allow the 6-foot-3 180 pounder to eliminate some of the 14 schools who have already offered him. Though it was thought that he had already reduced that list to a final seven.

"It's changed a little," said Briscoe. "There's a surprise team that's going to get an official. I had basically cut them off my list but they kept coming and really have caught my attention this time around. – but I'm not ready to release who it is yet."

The original top seven schools were Duke, N.C. State, Virginia, Tennessee, Nebraska, Georgia, and Clemson – all had offered. However a second seven of North Carolina, East Carolina, South Carolina, Kansas State, Wake Forest, Maryland, and Vanderbilt have also offered, meaning one of those seven has snuck above the ‘cut line'.

"I've done my research and I've called some of the coaches at the schools I am interested in, and I've tried to get to a place where I don't have a lot left to do in recruiting so that I can concentrate on my senior season."

"It's hard to eliminate some schools because I like them all a lot, but it's something that needs to be done."

That senior season kicked off in grand style with a Lawndale scrimmage that ended up being a route for Briscoe's bunch.

We played really well, and I had a good afternoon. I caught a touchdown and had close to 100 yards. I also ran the ball well."
