And while Duke will certainly look to bring in another running back in this class, it's unlikely that Padgett will give a career in Durham another look now that the Blue Devils have signed Re'quan Boyette.
"I saw they've already got another guy in place, and that's cool. Both sides needed to do what's best for them."
Though his flirtation with Duke appears to over, Padgett does have a strong shot at attending one of his top four.
"South Carolina and Clemson both want me to play football and run track for them. That's something that is a goal of mine, I think I can be successful in both."
Aside from a track program to compliment football, Padgett says he's interested in academics and then there's the playing time issue.
"I'd like to go somewhere I can play early in both sports. I think I can contribute early in my career."
