``When are you going to commit to Duke?"
The junior guard, who will head out to California for an unofficial visit to Ben Braun's program this weekend, said it's not that he hasn't ruled out eventually committing to the Blue Devils, but it's just that he wants to make sure of his decision – and that means checking out other campuses.
Scheyer has trimmed his list to nine, but five stand out in the top tier: Duke, Illinois, Cal, Michigan State and Arizona.
North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA and Notre Dame comprise the next tier.
``I don't know how sold those four are on me – and how sold I am on them," Scheyer said.
Scheyer said that Duke is scheduled to come in and watch him workout sometime next week.
``Obviously, Duke's a great place," he said. "Duke has so much to offer, but it's not the perfect place for everybody. I want to weigh my options and just want to make sure I make the right decision."
``I'm definitely more open than people think," he added. "Everyone thinks I'm going to Duke and I very well could end up there, but at this point, I don't know."
Scheyer still said he'll made a trip to Durham at some point during this season to watch the Blue Devils. He also wants to go to the Illinois-Wake Forest game and also take in a Michigan State game.
Scheyer said he's already looking forward to next summer.
``School's important, but at the same time, you have to prove it in the summer," Scheyer said. "I want to prove that I'm top 10 in the country. I think I need to show people that I'm more athletic than they think. My vertical has improved and so has my defense, but the biggest thing is consistency. You have to bring it every game."
