Melvin Still Looking Forward to Duke

With the current Blue Devils struggling to catch a break on the field, many are waiting for the next shoe to drop. In other words, when will the high rated recruits begin rethinking their decisions to attend Duke. Despite rumors to the contrary, one of the state's ten best isn't shopping.

Last week Marquis Melvin made an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill to watch the Tar Heels face off against Georgia Tech, fueling speculation that the 6-foot-1, 200 pounder was shopping for a backup plan. However Melvin squashed those rumors in an interview with's Miller Safrit this week.

"Nothing's changed with me and Duke," said Melvin. "I'm still solid with them and will be going to Duke."

So why the unofficial trips to Chapel Hill to see the Tar Heels?

"There's no particular reason. I'm just there watching a game. I mean Duke was away for the first three weeks, and there wasn't much going on so I went. There's nothing else to it, I'm not trying to go there or anything."

Despite his future teammates being away for the first three games of the season, the Whiteville (N.C,) native has been keeping close tabs on the progress of the team.

"They are struggling a little bit right now, but they just need some time. They're young, and hopefully when I get there I can help contribute early and help them get things turned around."
