Brockman Headed To Washington

Jon Brockman, one of the finest power forwards in America, ended his recruitment Saturday night and decided to stay close to home.

According to a source close to the situation, Jon Brockman will be a member of the Washington Huskies. Brockman, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of nearby Snohomish (Wash.) High picked the Huskies over Duke.

Regardless of what happens with Martell Webster – and a public verbal commitment seems imminent – Brockman is the most important recruit to the Huskies program this year. Unlike Webster, Lorenzo Romar is going to be able to count on Brockman to be on campus next fall.

Brockman visited Duke in September and the Blue Devils, by all accounts, did an excellent job in recruiting him. After the visit, Brockman then took UCLA off his list leaving just the Blue Devils and Huskies.

However, as most reasoned, in the end the hometown pull was just too much for him to resist. As a result, Romar has strung together one of the finer recruiting classes in the country.

Joining Brockman is Top 100 forward Artem Wallace, point guard Justin Dentmon and wings Roburt Sallie and Harvey Perry. Mix in the expected commitment of Webster and call it an outstanding year for the Huskies on the recruiting trail.
