One of them is Trevor Ariza, a 6-7 combo forward from LA's Westchester High, a team packed with talent. Teammates Hassan Adams, Brandon Bowman, Ashanti Cook and Brandon Heath are all pegged for D-1 ball.
Ariza really took off over the summer, going from a slender, 6-6 player who stayed near the basket to a 6-7 player who could run all over the place and shoot from deep or drive.
He could be a good fit for Duke, at least athletically and position-wise, but grades and personality have to be a match as well.
Unfortunately for Duke, he lists Florida and UNC as his favorite schools. Florida can reasonably expect to have David Lee and James White for two years, though, and that would tend to cut into his playing time there if they stayed longer.
At UNC, Williams, Manuel, and McCants will compete for minutes. So there may be an issue there when it comes time to decide, and a lot of times, people start off thinking that a certain place would be ideal and they forget it when they learn more.
He also lists UCLA, Syracuse, Duke, UConn, Memphis, Cincinnati, Louisville, so we'll have to wait and see on this one. There are a lot of potential variables.
