Singler Has Duke In Top Five

He's one of the youngest players on the Duke recruiting board, but 6-foot-8, 200 pound small forward Kyle Singler has the game to back up that distinction. In fact he's got enough game to back up pretty much what ever he wants.

Considered one of the top 20 players in the class of 2007 by virtually every recruiting service around, Kyle Singler will have his pick of the nation's elite programs when it comes time to picking a school.

With that in mind, the Oregon school boy has already begun taking notice of who's watching and keeping in touch as much as possible. So far it's been a half dozen who have maintained steady contact.

"I'm hearing a lot from Duke, Arizona, Kansas, and the local schools (Oregon and Oregon State) up here," Singler told TDD. "None have offered me or anything, but I do get a lot of mail and I am wide open."

Which is probably why he's on the mailing lists for other schools including Arizona State, California, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington, Washington State among others.

Still those five schools seem to have the inside track, with the Blue Devils seeming to have a strong horse in the race.

"My dream school has always been Duke, to play for Coach K," said 6-foot-7 small forward Kyle Singler in an interview with Tracy Pierson of Scout.com in late summer, but does that still apply?

"I like Duke a lot, but I am wide open at this point," said Singler. "It's still early, though."

And right now Singler would prefer to work on improving his overall floor game and helping his high school team make a run at a title. And while he's doing that, you can bet many of the nation's best will be watching.
