Another Prospect Looking At Duke??

While the wait continues for Greg Paulus to officially give up football and sign a basketball letter-of-intent to play at Duke, the Blue Devils' coaching staff has begun to focus their efforts on another two-sport star – Alief Taylor High's (Texas) Martellus Bennett.

The 6-foot-7, 240-pound Martellus Bennett is a phenomenal athlete and big-time rebounder who is best friends with Arizona-bound power forward Fendi Onobun. The duo played together with the Houston Hoops this past summer.

The Duke staff, according to sources close to the situation, has expressed interest in seeing the level of interest that Bennett has in the Blue Devils.

``There's definitely a chance I will go to Duke and play only basketball," said Bennett, who has yet to speak to the staff. "I could also go and play both sports."

While Bennett has yet to be contacted by Duke, his coach has been in contact.

Bennett is a big-time tight end who has 38 receptions for 432 yards and four touchdowns this season. He also has 90 pancake blocks as his team enters the postseason this weekend.

Bennett has taken an unofficial visit to Miami and a pair of recent officials to Oklahoma and Texas. He may take an official to LSU and hopes to get a chance to check out Durham. Arizona is also the mix.

``I de-committed from Miami because I didn't feel it would be right to look at other schools and still be committed," Bennett said. "I committed too early and didn't get a chance to look at my options."

Despite being a two-sport guy and never being able to focus his efforts solely on basketball, still ranks Bennett as No. 61 in the nation in the senior class.
