Blue Devil Prospects Prep Updates

Several Blue Devils targets were in action, wrapping up their holiday tournament schedules on Thursday evening.

Scheyer dominant again for Glenbrook

Jon Scheyer, Glenbrook North's terrific 6'6 shooting guard was once against the most dangerous offensive threat on the floor Thursday, helping his team to the consolation championship of the Proviso West Event in Chicago, downing New Trier 48-30.

Once again there was no answer for Scheyer who hit for 31 points and eight rebounds to lead his team to their 10th victory of the season against just two losses. Over the four game event, Scheyer averaged 29.5 points per game.

McRoberts Battles Foul Trouble; Bests Zeller

In his second straight match up against high major big men, Josh McRoberts once again came away victorious. This time it was against Notre Dame signee Luke Zeller at the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic

After picking up three early fouls, McRoberts was forced to sit the entire second quarter while Zeller helped carry his Washington High team through that period. Once the second half began, McRoberts took over. The Duke bound big man scored 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out eight assists, and blocked three shots including a huge swat of Zeller, to lead Carmel to a 54-37 victory over the No. 1 ranked team in the 3A competition.

"Josh really took over in the third quarter and showed how he can do a lot of things," Carmel coach Mark Galloway told the Indianapolis Star. "Whether offense or defense, he did it all by scoring, passing, rebounding, blocking shots and contesting shots."

Boykin Leads Fairfax to Consolation Title

Jamal Boykin and Fairfax High had hoped for a shot at Oak Hill Academy in the finals of the Les Schwab Invitational. However an opening night loss relegated them to the consolation bracket. Undeterred, the Lions finished off a three game win streak to claim that title on Thursday.

Boykin led the way with 14 points and four rebounds despite shooting a horrific 3-of-14 from the floor. The Duke bound big forward made up for it at the line, hitting all eight of his attempts, while also blocking three shots and collecting two steals as the Lions were never threatened throughout the win over Eugene.

Echefu finishes strong at Schwab

Power forward target Uche Echefu helped his Montrose Christian Academy teammates finish up strong at the same Schwab event by adding 12 points (5-of-7 from the field), seven rebounds, and two blocks as Montrose rolled to a 60-41 victory over Canby in the consolation game.

Thomas Leads Gray Bees To Title

After rolling over Vanguard to reach the finals of the Kingdom of the Sun tournament behind Lance Thomas' 10 point, seven rebound, four steal performance, St. Benedicts rolled over Lakewood High to take home the event's championship.

Once again Thomas came to play, logging 22 points and 12 rebounds to help the Gray Bees remain unbeaten.
