Top Georgia ATH On Campus This Week

One of the South's top prospects hails from a state where Duke has had some successful recruiting visits in the last few seasons. Given the talent level in his home state for the class of 2006, head coach Ted Roof is looking forward to sweeping in and landing a few more high level prospects, beginning with the pride of Tucker High School.

With a strong frame and superb quickness, Tucker (Ga.) High standout Asher Allen has just scratched the surface when it comes to being a big time recruit. After all, the 5-foot-10, 190 pounder, who runs a 4.4 forty, is "only" sitting on half a dozen offers…as a junior.

"He just a strong kid who puts in the time in the weight room," says Tucker High coach Bill Ballard. "He's got a terrific work ethic."

Both on the field and in the classroom it would seem, as Allen currently sports a 3.5 grade point average. On the field he's considered as one of the top running backs, if not the top back in the state of Georgia.

At this point he's holding offers from Duke, Ohio State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Illinois, and Maryland. And though the Blue Devils are not listed as one of his five favorites according to Ballard, the Blue Devils have been able to secure Asher for this weekend's junior day, along with several other big time prospects.

"Right now he's favoring Georgia, Tech, Ohio State, Auburn, Texas, and Clemson, but he's going to Duke this weekend to see what they have to say."
