NC LB Hearing From Duke; Has Offers

Up until now, Matt Woodlief of Catawba (N.C.) Bandys wanted to keep his scholarship offers a secret. The 5-foot-10, 235-pound linebacker is now ready to spill the beans.

"When I went up to UNC, they offered me that day – for fullback," said Matt Woodlief. "And Wake Forest wants me for linebacker. They offered me about a month ago. I didn't want to tell it right away, because I like to keep it to myself."

Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Duke, and East Carolina are also recruiting Woodlief.

With Wake Forest's and North Carolina's programs being similar in so many aspects, Woodlief has basically turned the battle into position.

"The offers have made me think a lot more then I was," said Woodlief. "It makes me think ‘Do I want to go through my career and be a fullback or a linebacker? It's going to take awhile."

Woodlief hopes to have a decision made before his senior season begins, and admits Wake Forest has a slight lead.

"[I like Wake Forest] mostly because of the position [they want me for]," said Woodlief. "I've been looking into their academics and they have great academics. And just their football program; it's developing every year. The coaching staff is great the players are great I've talked to all them."

This summer, Woodlief plans to attend North Carolina's camp and unofficially visit Wake Forest before making his final decision.
