Devils Fall Behind for Fla. QB

Jarred Fayson is a QB/ATH out of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL. He's been steadily adding to an offer total that has now reached 9 strong. Who's on board? <P>

"I have offers from Georgia, Kansas State, Iowa State, Central Florida, South Florida, Syracuse, Duke, Maryland and Ole Miss. All of them have offered me at quarterback," Jarred Fayson said.

Six schools have made the initial cut and an in-state power stands out above the rest at this early stage.

"I like Florida, Miami, Georgia, Duke, Maryland and Iowa State. My favorite school is Florida right now."

Why are the Gators on top?

"Our offenses are very similar. I went to practice and I like the intensity and how well it was organized. They talk like they're going to offer me soon. I'm going to go work out for them this summer."

What stands out about the other schools on his list?

Miami: "The program is real laid back but they win games. They're good every year and they're always at the top. Coach Warner and Coach Coker relate real well to me."

Georgia: "They give me a chance to play quarterback. Their offense is real simple and they have the most wins of any SEC team over the last four years."

Duke: "The program is on the rise, but mainly it's the academics. I love that aspect of the school."

Maryland: "The location. It's just a beautiful location. I like their facilities and all that."

Iowa State: "Their facilities are state of the art and I also like the offense. Coach Ashe is a great guy and he doesn't give you a lot of BS."

What is he seeking in a school?

"I'm definitely looking at the tradition and what they offer to me. How they can help me reach my goals."

Fayson's teammate Leslie Stirrups happens to be one of the top DL's in the Sunshine State. Would they like to attend the same college?

"We definitely want to go to school together. We talk about it all the time. We got offered by Georgia at the same time a few weeks ago and I know he has a Florida offer also. Those are the only two I know of for sure."

Jarred had a very successful junior campaign.

"I threw for 1,000yds and 11 touchdowns. On the ground I had 750yds and 24 touchdowns. I led the state in rushing touchdowns by a quarterback."
