Early Interest Paying Off with Big OL?

Robert Drum, from Spain Park High School, proved to be one of the top offensive line prospects in the state of Alabama with a fine performance at the Scout.com combine in Starkville. Drum has added two new offers, and he is hoping for more opportunities as he prepares to hit the summer camp circuit.

"I received new offers from Marshall and Central Florida," said Robert Drum. "I received the offers on back-to-back days. They came in last week. Both of those schools are moving into Conference USA next year. I have heard good things about both schools. I am going to try to visit, but I may not be able to this summer."

It's easy to see the tall offensive lineman has several available options, but he is hoping for an offer from the two in-state powers.

Drum said, "I talked to Coach Harbison (Alabama) last week. He asked me if I was coming to camp. He hopes I am coming and do really good. Coach Harbison was telling me about the law school and the business school at Alabama. I think that is what I want to do in college."

"I have been talking to Coach Price from Auburn. He called me last week too. I really like him a lot. Coach Price always seems real excited when he sees you and talks to you," said Drum.

Spain Park has a humble lineman in Robert Drum. Although he does not hold an offer from Alabama or Auburn, he believes the two schools are serious in their recruitment. "I can't say if either school is close to offering. They send me a lot of mail, and they both call me," Drum said. "I have heard from someone that Alabama is going to offer me. Then I hear Auburn is close to offering. I have heard both are really close to offering me. I am going to have to wait to see how things go for now. I will attend both their senior day camps this summer."

Duke was the first school the Birmingham lineman visited this summer. He feels the Blue Devils may no longer be thought of as only a basketball school. Drum said, "I visited Duke last weekend for an unofficial visit. It went great. The program seems like it is on the way up. They are putting a lot of effort into recruiting. I really like the campus."

"I will definitely take an unofficial visit to Alabama this summer. I may go to Auburn as well," Drum added.

When asked about favorites Drum replied, "I would have to say my favorites are the schools I have visited. I have visited Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Duke. I like them because they are the only places I have seen. They are not a top four. I don't have an overall favorite or anything. I am planning to have a top five by the time school starts in August."

During the past week Drum has received phone calls from Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, and South Carolina. Drum plans to attend summer camps at Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee.
