Devils Among Favorites for Midwest QB

Alex Loukas has several offers, and is listing Duke as one of his top schools early on

Deerfield, Ill., star quarterback Alex Loukas now has six scholarship offers under his belt. The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder, is fresh off a state doubles championship in tennis and now he turns his attention to football. Loukas told Scout.com which schools have offered him a scholarship and which schools are at the top of his wish list.

"I have scholarship offers from Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Miami (Ohio), Western Michigan and Akron." Alex Loukas said.

"All of those schools called me in May. I also had calls from Stanford, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, Bowling Green and Central Michigan.

"My favorites are Stanford, Northwestern, Iowa, Purdue, Duke, Iowa State, Miami (Ohio) and Iowa State."

As a junior, Loukas passed for 1,518 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also rushed for 525 yards and 6 touchdowns. Alex was named all-conference and all-area.

Loukas is one of the top dual-threat quarterback prospects in the area. Several coaches that came through the Chicago area came away very impressed with the athleticism of Loukas.

"Alex (Loukas) is one of the top quarterback prospects in the state," said Deerfield coach, Steve Winiecki.

"Alex has a very high football I.Q. Alex is very sure of himself and he makes smart decisions with the football and I think you can see that on film.

"Alex is a kid that will run a consistent 4.7 40-yard dash, he has a 36-inch vertical leap and he's fearless. I've even had coaches asking me if he could play wide receiver, tight end, linebacker or safety."
