Duke Recruiting Stays Hot

Duke has been one of the surprises in the region this year with several outstanding pickups. They added another big commitment last night.

Ted Roof and his staff at Duke are becoming one of the surprise stories this recruiting season as the Blue Devils have kicked it up a notch or five on the recruiting trail this year. The good work continues as they picked up a commitment from highly sought after Jarrod Holt of Clearwater High School in Florida.

"I committed to Duke," said Holt. "I just finished up a two week tour and saw all of the schools that have offered me. I felt comfortable, and I felt with my personality I would fit with Duke. I was looking for a great education and great football program, I think they're going to do something special soon, and I want to be part of that. I like what they're doing with the program and academically. Coach Spencer was recruiting me. He's a great guy. He did a great job of recruiting me, and I think highly of him. I like the set up of the school. You have Duke and Durham, and then 15 minutes away you have Raleigh. My brother goes to NC State so that is convenient too."

What did the Wolfpack brother have to say about the new Blue Devil in the family?

"He was real excited and supported me."

Holt had an impressive list of offers to choose from including NC State, Maryland, Clemson, Wake Forest, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, USF, Rutgers, Iowa State, Missouri, San Diego State, Tulane, and Indiana. Could he take some other official visits when it comes time, or is he finished?

"I don't plan on taking any other official visits. I don't want to waste anyone else's time. I'm committed to a school, and I want to stick to it."
