"D-Day" Approaches for Tillman

Texas quarterback J.P. Tillman says he will announce his decision later this week after tripping unofficially to Duke and Missouri, the 6-foot-2, 225 pound Texan knows he's ready to commit. He's just not telling...yet.

"I think I know where I want to go to school, but I am not ready to announce it yet," said J.P. Tillman in a late Wednesday phone interview. "I'll probably make my announcement on Friday."

And so the fans of Missouri and Duke are left hanging for at least another day as the Texas signal caller returns home from his visits -- he was at Duke on Wednesday taking in the campus, the facilities, and the overall atmosphere of the Durham campus.

"Man, it's a beautiful place at Duke. They have the advantage with their academics. A Duke degree will set you up for life once you finish playing football. Coach Roof and his staff are really working hard to build up their program to be competitive in the ACC. I think they are on the right path."

So does that mean the Blue Devils could be on the right path towards obtaining their tenth commitment from the class of 2006?

"Duke is certainly right there with me," said Tillman. "I really have a good feeling with their coaches and the school. Missouri is also very strong."

Aside from the Blue Devils and Tigers, Tillman has interest from schools such as Texas A&M, Colorado, North Carolina, and central Florida. However none of those schools will factor into his decision.
