One of Duke's primary targets put on quite a show at Boo Williams Saturday night.
Ndubi Ebi, a 6-9 kid out of Houston Texas, who told Michael Kruse he was just trying to "win and work on his defense," (registration required) was sensational with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots. You don't see people get close to triple doubles with blocked shots too often, and three in a row came against rising star Re'Sean Dickey, a sophomore from South Carolina who Dave Telep said was "the best prospect" (registration required) he saw on Friday, and described his game as "a cross between Elton Brand and Jason Parker." We almost put Jason Williams, and that kind of a cross would be surreal.
If the coaching staff accepts the criticism of Duke's interior defense this past season, those 10 blocked shots have to be impressive. They couldn't see it unfortunately, as coaches weren't allowed, per NCAA regulations.
Ebi is looking at Duke, Arizona, and Texas, and several other schools, including UNC and Kansas.
Special thanks to Dave Telep for help in this report
