Ebi's Performance Causing Buzz

Dave Telep has some thoughts on the remarkable performance Saturday night by Duke target Ndi Ebi.

The Houston Hoops is the best team at the Boo Williams Invitational. That's the consensus among observers in Hampton, Va. Right now, the Hoops boast three of the top players in the tournament: junior PG Taurean Minor, sophomore guard Daniel Gibson and power forward Ndi Ebi.

The 6-9 Ebi was super on Saturday night as he led his team past the South Carolina Ravens 77-58. He scored 19 points (7-12 FG), grabbed 7 boards and blocked an incredible 10 shots, including four of Ra'Sean Dickey's attempts and 3 in a row.

Ebi's versatility is what's likely most appealing to the Duke staff. He's a guy who doesn't weight 200 pounds but yet he was able to control the paint with a 240-pound sophomore beast in his way. On this occasion Ebi, a year older and wiser than his counterpart Dickey, used defense to intimidate the younger Ravens.

On the offensive end, he relied on foot speed to negate the bulk advantage that Dickey held.

Right now, Arizona, Duke and Texas comprise the first tier of schools he's interested in. North Carolina and Kansas round out the Top 5 but our sources claim the first three programs are the ones to beat.
