Countdown to Kickoff - Offense

Kickoff for the 2005 season is now less than a week away and TheDevilsDen.com aims to have all Blue Devil fans ready for Duke's first tilt with the East Carolina Pirates in Greenville. Quarterbacks: Schneider will start preseason as the number one signal caller and hold on to it throughout the season. Either Delle Donne or Asack will show enough to grab hold of the second position on the depth chart, and Dukes will play in a “slash” role running, receiving and throwing the ball....[Full Story]

Runningbacks: Cedric Dargan will open the season as the starter. If he stays healthy (and that is a big if), he will receive between 18-22 carries per game and will probably finish the year with close to 1000 yards rushing. The competition to be Dargan’s backup will be fierce, and will get even more competitive with the return of Aaron Fryer. Expect Ronnie Drummer to see action on third downs and passing situations, and to score 1-3 long touchdowns this year.....[Full Story]

Receivers: Either Ronnie Elliot or Ben Patrick will lead the Blue Devils in receptions. Patrick will be among the leaders in the conference in receptions for a tight end, and will contend for first time all-conference. If the Duke offense is clicking, he could emerge as the best tight end in the ACC.....[Full Story]

O-Line: If Duke can stay healthy, the line actually has a chance to be solid, despite losing 3 starters from the 2004 squad. The interior line should be good enough to create holes up the middle for the power running game.
