Duke In Top Seven For Green

Garrett Green (6-1, 190, 4.5), quarterback of Sherman Oaks' (Calif.) Notre Dame High School (4-0), hasn't seen much playing time this season in his usual position.

"I was running the ball in the first game. My thumb was kind of pushed from my hand. I can't describe it," Green said. As a result he has been playing defensive back with his hand wrapped since then.

"I most likely will be back to quarterback this Friday (Oct. 7) against Valencia. All I can say most likely."

Green hasn't set or taken any official visits, and now denies any favorites. He said he has seven offers – Washington, UNLV, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Kansas State and Duke. "It's been hard to fit it (official visits) in with my schedule.

"I will most likely start on visits right after the season. These schools are offering me as a quarterback." Green said he plans on taking his parents with him on visits. "I want to have their input. I value their suggestions.

"Athletically I want a program where the offense fits me, and that will have the opportunity to come in and compete for a position. I want to make an impact.

"The coaching staffs (of my offering schools) all seem nice. I would love to play for any of them. All seem a good fit offensively, and none discourage mobile quarterbacks."

He said he is also looking for a coach with "a lot of energy; one that will get after me. I respond to that."

Green's looking for a strong academic institution too. He reports a 3.7 GPA/1860 SAT.
