Tales from the Duke Blue Devil Hardwood

The Duke Blue Devils' long history of success in college basketball comes alive within the pages of Tales from the Duke Blue Devils Hardwood, as detailed by Duke historian James Sumner.

The program's storied past includes 27 NCAA Tournament appearances, 13 trips to the Final Four and three national championships. A number of Duke games have achieved legendary status and are relived in the book, including North Carolina State's 12-10 win over Duke in the 1968 ACC Tournament, North Carolina's scoreless half at Duke in 1979, Duke's upset win over UNLV in the 1991 Final Four, and the 1992 Duke vs. Kentucky regional final classic.

Duke University has been home to 28 All-Americans, eight of which have been named national player of the year – Dick Groat, Art Heyman, Johnny Dawkins, Danny Ferry, Christian Laettner, Elton Brand, Shane Battier, and Jason Williams. Their tales are included here, as well as stories from Duke coaching legends Eddie Cameron, Vic Bubas, Bill Foster, and Mike Krzyzewski. Tales from the Duke Blue Devils Hardwood will also take fans inside Cameron Indoor Stadium, the country's most famous on-campus basketball facility and the home of the so-called "Cameron Crazies," renowned for their enormous creativity and enthusiasm.
