Chris Burgess has seen his stock steadily drop since high school, which underscores the foolishness of ratings and the often false siren of the NBA.  Now, after leaving Duke and having a mediocre, injury-plagued tenure at Utah, he is still hoping to make it in the NBA.  He says he hopes to play for Utah, or the Lakers or the Clippers.  If he was a Clipper, of course, he would once again be behind Elton Brand, which might send his dad around the bend.

There were flashes at Duke, and brilliant ones at that. Burgess has an instinct for the game. But just as significantly, he seems to have a lot of self-doubt, which came out most clearly on the foul line.

Also, when he left Duke, he was unhappy that he had been asked to bulk up to play center, which he felt was not his position.  Now, though, he is working with a trainer to increase his strength so that...he can play center.

Whatever.  Good luck to Chris. We thought he had immense potential when he was here, and we hope he can realize it.
