Beal Has Two More Visits Remaining

Jermey Beal wasn't on anyone's radar a few months ago. In fact most experts knew next to nothing about the 6-foot-2, 245 pound defensive lineman. Now he's arguably the hottest target in Texas. Last weekend he was on campus with the Blue Devils.

"My visit to Duke was certainly something more than I expected," said Jeremy Beal. "I don't know what exactly I thought Duke was going to be, but I really loved it there. It's a great school and a beautiful place."

The Blue Devils, who have been recruiting Beal longer than most programs, were hopeful that they could snatch up another big time Texas prospect that had somehow flown under the recruiting radar. However, the word is out on Jeremy and in a big way.

"I've really seen the interest in me pick up. Duke, Alabama, and Arkansas have been there with me for a long time now and Oklahoma, OSU, and Texas Christian have also gotten involved. I've already been to Alabama (Nov 11), Arkansas (Dec 2), and Duke (Dec 9). I'm going to Oklahoma this weekend."

That's four of his allotted five visits, with the fifth destination still up in the air. What isn't up for debate is the taking of that last visit, which will likely be scheduled in the next week or two.

So what is he looking for when he's on his visits?

"Academics are the most important thing for me. I want to be set with a degree no matter what happens with football. The second thing I'm looking for is a relationship with the coaching staff and how I fit in with the players. This is somewhere I'm going to be for the next few years. I need to be comfortable with those people."

As a senior for Creekview, Beal recorded 128 tackles, including three sacks, 29 quarterback hurries, 25 tackles for loss, and one interception that was returned for a touchdown.
