Duke Adds Peach State Late Bloomer

Brandon Harper is a strong defensive tackle for Milton High School in Alpharetta, Ga. that was drawing the attention of several colleges across the south and beyond with his play as a senior. Duke was the first major college in the south to put an offer on the table, and Harper didn't hesitate to take it.

"Yes sir, I committed to Duke," said Brandon Harper. "I picked them because of the academics. I see at Duke that some good things are going to happen, and I want to be part of it."

Known as a strong man going into the season, Harper really came on late as a senior.

"I had 50 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. I have a 400 pound bench press, 500 squat and 305 power clean. Duke said I might be able to come in and play early."

At 6-3 and 295 pounds with his strength, Harper has the physical ability to make an early contribution, and he is looking forward to getting to Duke.

"My mom and I used to live up in that area, so we're looking forward to getting back."
