A World Of Travel Drops Rwabukamba At Duke

Before he committed to Duke, there was little known about the Blue Devils' newest commitment, Chris Rwabukamba. In fact, there's a chance he'll still be a man of mystery when he arrives on campus next year.

"The visit is what really helped make the decision for me," said Chris Rwabukamba of his weekend official visit to Durham. "I had always liked Duke, but seeing the wonderful education opportunities and the facilities made it an easy choice in my mind."

After growing up in Rwanda, Rwabukamba integrated to the United States to Greensboro, N.C. However, an illness in the family prompted the family to move to Canada -- their third country in a little over three years. Sadly after the move, Chris lost his father to illness.

"My mother has done a great job raising me, and I really want to make her very proud of me. I am going to Duke to do that in the classroom and on the field."

Though he is a relative unknown to many recruitniks, Rwabukamba had already picked up and offer from Stanford and was contemplating visits (which he believes would result in offers) to Michigan State and Illinois. Just as he would had he elected to become a Cardinal, Illini, or Spartan, Chris plans to line up exclusively at cornerback.

"That's why they recruited me. I've got really good speed. I run a 4.5 forty. They told me they need more speed at that position next year, so I'll have a chance to come in right away and earn a chance to get on the field."
