Devils Pick Up A Quarterback

Though he isn't the most highly rated member of the class of 2006, Thaddeus Lewis may be the most crucial addition. On Wednesday afternoon the nation's No. 65 quarterback made it public for the Blue Devils by faxing in his National Letter of Intent.

He will immediately step in as the third string signal caller and could challenge for more time once he arrives on campus.

Lewis' fax was received by the Duke football office at approximately 00:00 AM, making him the 26th and final commit from the class of 2006.

"The visit to Duke wasn't what I expected it to be," said Lewis of his official visit last weekend. "I really felt like I fit in and I liked the program. Everyone was very smart and very focused on turning Duke around."

Lewis picked Duke over offers from Michigan State, Pittsburg, South Florida, and Texas Christian. Thaddeus describes himself for as:

"A pass first and run second. I only run when I have to and I think that surprises some people. People look at me and just think I want to automatically run the ball. I think I am an accurate passer with a pretty good arm. I know I still need a lot of work on my footwork, fundamentals and mechanics. I will always work on those things."
