"I like Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama and Auburn. I'm getting letters from all of those schools including UConn, Wisconsin, Clemson, LSU, Arkansas and Indiana," Matt Moody said.
The Blue Devils may hold a very slight early advantage.
"I've been to Duke's camp and I really like their coaching staff and what they're trying to do. I think they have the right steps in place to turn things around."
Moody is getting recruiting started early by attending a pair of Junior Days in the next two weeks.
"I'll be at Georgia next Saturday. I'll be at Duke on the Sunday after that and I'm even going to go see West Point. I'll be at Alabama in March."
How would he assess his strengths and weaknesses on the field?
"My biggest strength is toughness and leadership along with my arm strength. We did a lot of shotgun last year but I think were going to be under center more this season so I need to work on my drops. I got in a lot of trouble with my coaches for trying to run over people last year too so I think I need to be more smart with that."
Moody stepped in as the quarterback at Landmark Christian immediately after Alex Mortensen left for the University of Arkansas. As expected, he had a lot to live up too.
"He was great to learn from. He worked harder than anybody I've ever seen and it was good to play behind him as a freshman. Just competing with him every day made me strive to get better."
That competition spawned a friendship and Alex and Matt have stayed close ever since.
"I keep in touch with Alex a pretty good bit. He comes back a lot and we hang out at alumni functions and other things. It's really cool the relationship I've kept with him."
Headed into his final year at Landmark, Moody has been faced with the task of leading a young team.
"Senior year my goal is to definitely win another region title which will be our 4th in a row. We have a bunch of young guys so I have to step up my leadership so we can make another deep run in the playoffs."
The big signal caller camped at both Duke and Alabama a year ago and has tentative plans to return to Tuscaloosa this summer.
