A Decision Soon For Singler?

According to his local hometown paper, South Medford standout Kyle Singler is closing in on a college decision. With a visit scheduled to Duke this weekend, the 6-foot-8 small forward will get his final look at the Blue Devil program before making his choice.

According to the The Oregonian Singler has narrowed his list to UCLA and Duke and will be making his decision within the next month and before next month's OSAA Class 4A boys basketball tournament.

Before that time comes, the top recruiting target on the 2007 recruiting board for Duke will visit Durham on an unofficial visit. And while the sudden change in his list of schools may come as a shock to some, Scout.com's No. 6 overall prospect in the current junior class hinted as much in a recent interview.

"Basically, I want to take my visits to certain colleges. When I take those visits I'll have a better feel for what college I want to go to," Singler told Scout.com's Dave Telep. "After that it'll take me about a month to make my decision."

At that time the list of finalists read Duke, UCLA, Arizona, Kansas, and North Carolina, with the Bruins and Blue Devils seeming to have the inside track.

"I've already been to UCLA and I loved it there. I'm actually going to go to Duke on February 18th. After those two visits, my list is going to get shorter and my decision making more clear for me."

Duke has already secured commitments from four star small forward Taylor King and five star combo guard Nolan Smith in the class of 2007. Were Singler to decide to cast his lot with Coach K as well, the Blue Devils would be out of available scholarships in the class of 2007 barring any early departures.

Singler will be the first big time prospect making a visit to Cameron as 2006's Lance Thomas will be in town for the Duke-North Carolina game to close out the regular season.
