In-State Lineman Ready For Summer Camps

Bryan Garnett should earn a number of big time offers this summer.

In the 2004 recruiting class, Charlotte (N.C.) West's Rod Council headed into the combine season a virtual unknown. After posting some eye-catching combine numbers, Notre Dame, Virginia, and Virginia Tech were among the schools with scholarship offers for Council.

According to head football coach Pete Gilchrist, Bryan Garnett, a 6-foot-1 250-pound lineman, has the potential to make a name for himself on the combine circuit like Council.

"Once we get the junior tape out and get him to camps I think he's going to be like Rod Council," said Gilchrist. "I think when he gets ‘eye-balled' and does well in camps showing his size and strength the offers will come in."

In addition to the Scout.com and Nike Combines, Garnett will attend summer camps at North Carolina, N.C. State, Clemson, Duke, and South Carolina. During his travels, Garnett will show off his strength and size.

"I think his best attribute is his physicality," said Gilchrist. "Also, he didn't really grow until the last year."

As a junior, Garnett earned a spot on the All-Conference team as a guard after grading out at 86% and recording seven pancake blocks. He also didn't allow a sack all season long on over 200 passing attempts.
