Thomas Confirms Top Two Schools

Lance Thomas has a list of four schools but two of the programs are very high on his list ...

NEWARK, N.J. -- With just one more game left on the schedule, Lance Thomas is finally going to get a moment to focus on the recruiting process.

The energetic 6-8 forward from St. Benedict's scored nine points on Wednesday to help St. Benedict's Prep defeat Blair Academy and claim another New Jersey State Prep A crown.

Thomas said that not a lot has changed regarding his recruiting process, and he continues to list the same four schools he has since the fall: Rutgers, Duke, Florida and Arizona.

He did, however, say that two programs were at the top of the heap.

"You could definitely say that, that Duke and Rutgers are my top two choices," he said.

Blue Devil Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski came to Newark to watch Thomas play recently, and Rutgers Asst. Coach Jim Carr was in attendance on Wednesday to evaluate both Thomas and teammate Eugene Harvey.

Thomas took official visits to all four of the programs on his list. He plans on taking some unofficial trips to Rutgers over the few days.

"I am going to watch the Rutgers men play South Florida on Sunday," he said. "Then I plan on returning Monday night to watch the women play against UConn."

While Thomas didn't indicate a timetable for a decision, expect him to make a pledge before the late signing period begins in April. We will keep you posted on his status.
