Duke has two more scholarships to give, not including Melchionni and Humphries.
This would allow Duke to offer both Alou Deng (a member of the Dinka tribe, by the way) and maybe Ndubi Ebi, who some think are the second and third-best players in junior class (LeBron James is no. 1 obviously).
If Duke gets those two -- or any two others -- and everybody stays in school, they'll have 12 players on grants in 2003-4. That would be more than Duke normally carries, , but times have changed and no one wants to get caught short. For one example, Nick Horvath could obviously graduate next year and decide there are other things he'd like to do than play basketball. A guy with his grades and intellect can do whatever he wants.
