Duke Offers Atlanta DE

King High School's Patrick Hampton was one of the top players in the greater Atlanta area last season and now he's one of the better division one prospects as well. Hampton already holds his first offer and you can bet it won't be the last.

"Duke offered me about a month ago. That was the first one I got so I was kind of surprised. Arkansas and Georgia Tech are also recruiting me very hard.

Patrick names an early local leader.

"I like Georgia Tech, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia and Duke. I went to the Georgia Tech junior day and the facilities are very nice. I met the coaches and saw the defenses they run. Right now Georgia Tech is at the top of my list due to the good junior day they showed me last weekend."

What sticks out about the other teams in contention?

Auburn: "Really I like their defense. I'm going to one of their scrimmages next week."

Arkansas: "My friend Marcus Wade is going there and the coaches are really nice. I've met Coach Nutt and all of them."

Georgia: "I went to their camp last year and everything was really nice."

Duke: "They're recruiting me very heavily and I like the attention they show me."

When it comes down to picking a school, location and playing time will weigh heavily on Patrick's mind.

"Really I would like to start my freshman year or at least play. I'm also looking at the defenses and the academics. I want to stay close to home if I can as well."

Hampton will attend the Scout.com-Combine in Atlanta during the month of April. Stay tuned to Scout.com for the latest on this Peach State product.
