First Offer For MS Wideout

South Pike High School's Derrick Ross is back again this season much to the chagrin of opposing Mississippi 3A defensive coordinators.

The talented wide out made 39 receptions a year ago for 743 yards and hauled in 15 touchdown passes.

As one of the top returning players in the Magnolia State, Derrick is getting tons of attention from programs throughout the south east.

"I am getting interest from USM, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Arkansas, Duke, Illinois and several more."

Ross attended Junior Day at Mississippi State and received a scholarship offer soon after.

"Mississippi State has offered. They were my first offer. I think USM may offer. Of all the schools MSU and USM are my favorites right now."

When asked about his strengths on the gridiron Ross replied, " I am real aggressive and I know how to read the defensive coverage."

With offers starting to come in, will Derrick pull the trigger or take his time?

"I am going to just kind of wait and see. I am in no hurry."

Will Derrick stay in-state or will he be lured from the Magnolia State? Stay with for the answers to these and other questions.
