Southern DB Likes Duke

Shod Neely is receiving interest from numerous schools, and he names his favorites.

"I am receiving interest from Arkansas, Missouri, Texas A&M, Baylor, Duke and Boston College," said Shod Neely from Sherwood, (Ark.). "I receive mail from Boston College almost every day.

"My favorites are Duke, Harvard, Boston College, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Memphis, and Arkansas. I don't have an overall favorite."

Neely recorded 85 tackles, three interceptions, five pass break-ups, five forced fumbles, one punt block and one onside kick recovery all during his junior campaign.

When asked the main factor in his decision Neely replied, "Academics and the way the coaches represent themselves. I want to know if the coaches are outgoing and will help me with any questions I have."

Neely hasn't traveled much due to baseball, but he did hit one Junior Day.

"I went to Ole Miss Junior Day about a month ago," he said. "The visit went good. I thought they had very nice facilities, a nice campus and a nice field. The locker room was nice as well."

"The coaches told me they have the No. 1 academic school in the SEC."

The 5-11, 175-pound prospect hopes to visit Memphis and Texas A&M this spring as well.

Neely will participate in the All-American Combine in Oxford April 30.
