Real Deal: Day One Rundown

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Real Deal On The Hill tipped off Friday night with a pair of games. The action won't get intense until the coaches hit the scene Saturday morning but we were able to catch up with a few squads in the first session.

J.J. Hickson, PF, WW Renegades – There is little doubt that Hickson will have stronger outings than his 8-point, 9-rebound opening effort. Frankly, this was not his finest hour. Having said that, expect big things out of him when the coaches hit the streets in the morning. They'll be paying close attention to him and he'll be looking to see which head coaches are in the stands. This young man, because of his length, rebounding and natural gifts, has a chance to be a Top 10 player in this class. It's an exclusive group but it's not out of the realm of possibility that he join it.

Casey Mitchell, SG, WW Renegades – If he were eligible he'd be a hot spring commodity. Instead, he's off to Hargrave Military next fall for a post graduate season. He's a natural scorer who can flat out fill it up from long range and he's worked on his body since last summer.

George Goode, F, Rocktown – They took apart Tampa Fastbreak handily so Goode didn't have to be great. He hit ‘em up for 14 points and 9 rebounds while making 7 of his 11 shots. There's a lot of talent in that body and he should impact games each time out.

Jarryd Cole, PF, Rocktown – Here's a 6-foot-7 kid who mans his ground inside. Basically, he plays his position as an insider, rebounds his area and is a physical presence. He'll hammer down what he can and won't try to do things he's not capable of completing. He owns his area.
