Ohio Lineman Has Several Offers

One of the top offensive line prospects in the Buckeye State has several scholarship offers under his belt and the colleges have been rolling through his school during the May evaluation period. Nick Schepis, a 6-foot-4, 281-pounder, from Walsh-Jesuit high in Cuyahoga Falls, talks about his offers, favorites and camp plans.

"I have scholarship offers from Akron, Miami (Ohio), West Virginia, Duke, Marshall and Cincinnati.

"My favorites are obviously the schools that have offered me and I'd also throw in Ohio State, Boston College, Stanford and Virginia.

"I'm in no hurry to make a decision. I'll probably narrow things down before the season, set up my official visits, see what everyone has to offer and make a decision when I feel comfortable.

"Ohio State has always been my favorite, just because I've grown up in Ohio and I've been a fan my whole life."

Schepis will be a three-year varsity starter in 2006. He started at strong-side tackle as a sophomore and moved to the weak side as a junior.

"I'm going to stay at the weak-side tackle as a senior." Schepis said.

"I graded out at over 90% last year. I didn't get any honors or anything like that. We're an independent school, so we don't have an all-conference team.

"The college coaches are telling me that I'll either be a guard or a center at the next level."

With the May evaluation period in full swing, we asked Schepis if he received any phone calls from college coaches.

"No phone calls yet but Cincinnati, Michigan State, Boston College and Kentucky were all in the school yesterday. I know there have been more but I can't name them right now.

"I'm going to the Nike combine this Friday at Columbus and I'm also going to the Scout.com combine in Louisville. That's my focus right now. I want to see who else might come in the picture after the camps and combines. I'll narrow things down from there."

Schepis is also solid in the classroom, carrying a 3.6 GPA and scoring a 23 on his ACT.
