Devils Sitting Fourth For Bama OL

Jared Cooper, a 6'4, 285 pound lineman from East Brewton, AL says Duke is in 4th place at this point in his recruiting process.

W.S. Neal offensive lineman Jared Cooper received three early scholarship offers, and he collected two more Thursday.

"I picked up offers from Memphis and UAB today," said Jared Cooper from Brewton, (Ala.). "It was good to receive more offers. Hopefully, I will pick up a few more."

Several college coaches have visited this spring to see the 6-4, 285-pound lineman.

"We had our spring practice back in February so the college coaches have not been able to watch me practice," Cooper said. "We had coaches from Duke, Troy, Vanderbilt, Memphis, UAB and Alabama come by the high school. Coach [James] Willis from Auburn is coming next week."

The Tigers have made a strong impression with Cooper as he stated, "Auburn is looking real good. Coach Willis was the first coach to call. He called May 2. He just asked how school was going and basically how everything else was going."

"I like him. He is a great guy. I can talk to him about anything. He is the only coach who has called me."

"I am still liking Florida and Florida State as well. Coach Mikey Andrews from Florida State called my coach the other day. Duke is sitting at No. 4."

Cooper feels his next offer may come from an ACC school.

"Georgia Tech is showing interest," he said. "I'm talking to them a little bit. I'm thinking they are going to come through with an offer soon."

Cooper plans to attend summer camps at Alabama and Auburn.
