Jersey DB Has Duke Among Favorites

Calvin Otis says the Blue Devils have put in work early on and are among his ealry leaders.

Lawrenceville, NJ defensive back Calvin Otis is gaining some interest from some schools, now he hopes some written offers are in the near future. The 6-foot-1, 185 pound defensive back from Lawrenceville Prep has four schools interested thus far. "I am hearing from Virginia, Duke, Syracuse, and Rutgers right now," Otis said.

Otis plans on taking his time to make a quality decision for himself.

"I am pretty wide open right now. I want to take some visits and see some schools first and then I can go from there," Otis said. "I am looking for a school that is close to home, but if another school comes along that I like that is a little further away I wont have an issue with that. I also view academics as a very high priority," Otis said.

Otis feels that his hard work in the off-season has paid of with his performances at some spring combines.

"I went to the combine at Rutgers and the Elite College combine in New Jersey as well as another combine at Rutgers," Otis said. I was named first-team all Scout combine, so I thought I did well there. I also thought I did well at the Elite combine. I ran a 4.67 40 yard dash and 4.37 second shuttle and I thought I did well in the workouts."

Otis does have some summer visits on the agenda as well.

"I plan on visiting Georgetown, Boston College, Virginia, Duke, and maybe Syracuse," Otis said. Otis has also taken the SAT's in April and plans on taking them again on June 3rd.
