More Offers Coming For NY LB

Edwin Gowins, a top LB prospect from the northeast, has several schools interested.

Edwin Gowins a 6-foot-0, 215-pound athlete from Bellport, N.Y. earned an early offer from Central Florida, and he continues to receive a heavy amount of interest after amazing observers at a recent combine that was held at Penn State.

At the combine Gowins ran a 4.6 second forty-yard dash, a 4.25 second pro-shuttle, repped 185 pounds 25 times on the bench press, and had a vertical jump that neared 35 inches.

"Colorado has been talking to me as a running back," Gowins said. "I am still getting mail from Maryland, Penn State, Syracuse and Michigan State.

"Buffalo and Hofstra have been to the school to check things out. I have been talking to Coach (Jim) Bernhardt the most. I really like his personality. You can tell that he wants you to do good and be successful."

As a junior, Gowins reports that he racked up 97 tackles, six sacks, 27 tackles for a loss, and forced five fumbles form his linebacker position. He also rushed for 710 yards and 12 touchdowns as a fullback, while on the way to garnering All-State, All-Division, All-County, and All-Long Island honors.

Gowins currently lists Central Florida, Syracuse, Maryland, Duke, Virginia, Miami, Temple and Michigan State.
