Devils Continue to Evaluate Virginia DT

Manassas, Va., lineman Jonathan Branch is hoping to get his name out there this summer. The 6-foot-0, 267-pound Stonewall Jackson High School product is yet to receive a written offer but he is hearing from several schools.

"I am hearing a lot from Norfolk State, Hampton, James Madison, Townsend, and Richmond plus I have gotten some mail from Duke, UConn, Virginia, Clemson, Ohio State, and Michigan," Branch said.

Branch does have a favorite in mind but nothing is definite. "Right now I like Hampton but that could change," Branch said.

Branch is being recruited as an interior lineman, either on offense or defense. "I prefer to play defensive tackle but I will play anywhere, it doesn't matter to me," Branch said.

Branch has been to a few combines this spring as well.

"I was at the combine in Durham, NC and I was at another combine at Penn State," Branch said. "I think I improved at the Penn State combine. I did 25 reps of 185 pounds and I could have done more but I hit my hand. I also improved my vertical to 26 inches and I ran a 4.6 shuttle. I do have to improve my 40 yard dash but I was pleased with my progress," Branch said.

Branch is hoping that his summer efforts will pay dividends for him in his recruitment.

"My school has something called Push Week from June 17th through July 1st that we will go around to several schools for camps and all that for one day each. We will be stopping at Pitt, Ohio State, UConn, Maryland, Virginia, and Penn State," Branch said. "I will also be visiting Townsend on July 30th for an unofficial visit."

Branch also plans on taking the SAT's on June 3rd to kick off his summer. Branch previously took the SAT and scored a 910 (old scale).
