Several Trail A&M For Texas DB

A player that has just emerged onto the recruiting scene is Columbia High running back Jared Flannel in Brazoria, Texas. He has picked up his first offers. And, despite not offering just yet, one school is the clear leader.

"I have offers from Houston, Missouri, Duke and UTEP," Flannel said. "I think Texas A&M is close to offering. They told me that they want me, they just don't know whether for offense or defense yet."

The 6-foot-0, 180-pound Flannel plays running back and cornerback for his high school team.

"My top school is Texas A&M," Flannel said. "I grew up around the program and I have been there a ton of times and I love it. I also like all the schools that have offered, Oklahoma State, Miami and Iowa."

Flannel was named district MVP as a sophomore and junior. He was also all-county co-MVP as a junior.

"Most schools actually like me as a cornerback right now," Flannel said. "Some have talked about offense, but I think corner is where I am getting the most interest and that is cool with me."

As a junior Flannel rushed for 1,498 yards and 15 touchdowns on 171 carries.
