Another Potential Commitment

With four commitments already in the bag for the class of 2007, the Blue Devils may be close to doubling that total with several soon to be prep school prospects. Perhaps the best of those players is Alabama's Bryan Morgan – a 6-foot-2, 255 pound offensive lineman who projects to snap the ball in college.

"Duke is my leader," says soon to be Mercersburg Prep School offensive tackle Bryan Morgan. "I am very serious about them, and it would take something truly extraordinary for me not to play college football there."

Morgan was almost an addition to last season's recruiting class, but unfortunately the Blue Devils met their allotted scholarship numbers faster than anticipated, prompting Morgan to be left on the outside looking in. While that would have been demoralizing to many recruits, Morgan says it was probably good for him.

"I still need to gain some weight to be ready to play in college. Right now, my goal is to be around 270 or so when I get to school. It has to be good weight though. Right now I'm close to being 255lbs and I should be able to add the additional weight in the coming year. So, going to prep school is probably the best thing for me."

A season ago, Morgan had several offers including ones from Duke, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Navy, and Memphis. Most of those schools have remained in some sort of contact, but as he said, it would take a lot for him not to end up in Durham.

"Like I said, I don't think there's much of a chance of me going anywhere else. I'm looking forward to really being a part of something special at Duke. It may not be 100 percent yet, and I won't make anything official until the fall, but it'll be hard to even consider not going to Duke."

Morgan will begin his Mercersburg career in mid August along with two other likely Blue Devils – Cameron and Colin Jones.

"I've talked to them a few times via e-mail. It seems like we have a lot in common."

They do indeed, such as being likely Blue Devils.
