An Uphill Climb for Texas Receiver

One player that turned in a solid performance at the combine in Baylor (Tex.) was Leander, Texas wide receiver Curenski Gilleylen, who has now picked up an impressive list of scholarship offers.

"I have offers from Duke, Nebraska, Kansas, Purdue, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt," Gilleylen said. "Michigan State and Rice are also very interested."

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound Gilleylen ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds, the shuttle in 4.13 seconds and posted a 35-inch vertical jump at the combine.

"My top three schools would be Purdue, Miami and LSU," Gilleylen said. "Miami is probably my overall favorite, I just grew up loving them. I am going to wait and take some official visits. I am hoping for a big season and more offers will come in."

As a junior Gilleylen caught 40 passes for 866 yards and 12 touchdowns. He earned all-district honors as well as second team all-state honors.

"The only camps I have been to is Oklahoma State and Rice," Gilleylen said. "I doubt I will go to any others. I just got back from three weeks in Europe so I am trying to get back in shape for the season.
