Big Georgia Lineman Making Visits

With the pre0p football season beginning to loom large on the horizon, several recruiting targets are using these final summer weeks and days to make unofficial visits with eyes on being able to end the process in the coming weeks and months. That is the case for Georgia standout Tyler Bowen, who is heading to Durham today.

"I am taking this round of unofficial visits to Maryland and Duke," says 6-foot-7, 310 pound Georgia standout offensive lineman Tyler Bown. "I have never been to Maryland, and my parents haven't seen Duke, so this is a chance for us all to learn as much as we can before we have to look into official visits.

Bowen, who holds offers from the Blue Devils and Terrapins, had previously reported a top seven of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Duke, Florida, Auburn and Texas A&M. Meanwhile several other programs including Stanford, Arizona, and South Florida, have all requested senior season film before deciding on an offer.

So what is the appeal of making a Duke visit for Bowen?

"Definitely I like their academics and the campus is very nice. They seem like they're on the rise with football as well."

The Blue Devils were actually the second school to offer Tyler, as the Terrapins pulled the trigger way back in March. Then, early this summer, the Duke coaching staff followed suit.

Coach Charles London delivered the good news.

"Coach London told me it took longer than he thought it would but he thinks it's a good fit and he wanted to go ahead and extend an offer for me. They had been talking about offering me for a long time now. I went up there and visited and it's gonna weigh a lot on my decision them being one of the first to offer me."
