Patterson Trims List; Sets Duke Visit

Patrick Patterson,'s No. 11 prospect in the Class of 2007, is down to six schools.

Patterson, a standout from Huntington, WVa., told that he's looking at Florida, Wake Forest, Duke, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia. Programs like Tennessee, Pittsburgh and North Carolina are no longer under consideration.

Patterson is in the process of setting his visit schedule but has two planned to date. He'll attend Florida's ring ceremony the weekend of Sept. 9. He's also scheduled to officially visit Duke the final weekend in September and is thinking Kentucky's trip could be for Midnight Madness though it hasn't been firmly set up.

Previously, Patterson said the opportunity to play for head coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke was appealing.

"Coach K has been straight with me from the start about recruiting, and everything else. He's a legend, and probably one of the best coaches ever. Academically Duke speaks for itself."

And what will the 6-foot-8, 240 pound big forward be looking for when it comes time to slice his list from six down to one?

"The kind of relationship I have with the coaches and players and how I fit in with everyone around the program. I don't think distance will be much of a factor."

Rated as a five star prospect, Patterson is described by's Dave Telep as a gifted big man who probably winds up being a versatile power forward in college.

"He can pass with precision and knock down mid-range extended jumpers," said Telep. "And, he has a body built for rebounding."
