Devils Make Top 6 For ACC Legacy Recruit

Joe Weatherford is hoping all the kinks in his Land O Lakes offense are out for this week's opener against Zephyrhills.

"It was nothing exciting really," Weatherford said. "It was raining. I only played three series and was 5-for-12 with four drops. I also ran for 30 yards. We need to get a lot better for this week's game."

Weatherford, 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, talked about his goals heading into the season.

"The biggest goal is for my team to win the state championship," he said. "You start that by winning districts. Individually, I would like to do better than I did last year."

On the recruiting front, the talented Florida signal-caller lists six schools at this point.

"I'm looking at Duke, UCF, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, SMU, and UConn," he said. "I don't have an offer yet from Georgia Tech or N.C. State but they're both interested. I plan to send them some tape."

Louisville and USF were recruiting him but recently got quarterback commitments from Matt Simms and Alton Voss, respectively.
